Warts are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). There are more than 100 varieties of HPV and different types of the virus can cause different kinds of warts.
Common warts are small, fleshy bumps that are usually found on the fingers and hands, but can appear on any part of the body. They can appear singly or in multiples and can range in color from tan or flesh colored to pink or white.
Because warts are harmless, most do not require treatment and can go away on their own especially in children. Most people seek treatment when warts do not go away on their own, become bothersome or start to spread.
The preferred method for warts that are resistant to customary treatments is laser treatment. At CEC we have a few different options based on size of the wart to be treated. The VBeam® Laser is most commonly used while the Elllman® Co2 laser is used for larger and more resistant warts.
