As people age, the cushion in the footpad decreases. This decline is common in women, and especially those who frequently wear high heels. This can make continued heel use uncomfortable or even painful. The Cosmetic Enhancement Center is proud to offer Sculptra® Aesthetic – a simple, injectable cosmetic treatment that can restore support to the bottom of the feet.
Why Does the Foot Pad Break Down Over Time?
The feet are very small when compared to the rest of the body. Because of this, each step exerts a force 50% greater than the person’s entire body weight. For an individual that works in a standing occupation or exercises frequently, this can cause the balls of their feet to break down, which can lead to chronic burning or discomfort in their heels.
The breakdown of the footpad is significantly more common in women that wear high heels because of the way the heels position the feet. High heels slant the foot forward and down, placing a greater amount of force on the balls of the feet.
How can Sculptra® Aesthetic Help?
While Sculptra® Aesthetic is typically used to correct wrinkles and fine lines in the face, it has been clinically proven to add cushion to footpads and stimulate collagen production. Our own Christopher Toth, D.P.M., is one of the only physicians in the United States trained by the International Aesthetic Foot Society to administer this treatment to patients. Results typically last between six and twelve months.
Am I a Candidate for this Treatment?
Nearly anyone experiencing side effects of depleting footpads is a potential candidate for Sculptra® Aesthetic.
