Brown Birthmarks are simply areas of unusually high concentrations pigmentation or melanin in the skin. The most common brown birthmarks are café au lait spots, referring to their coffee with cream color. Although there is no medical reason to remove these spots many people do remove them for cosmetic reasons. At our cosmetic center we offer birthmark removal and mole removal.
Another kind of brown birthmark is congenital pigmented nevi, also known as a mole. Like other birthmarks, they can appear on any part of the body. A congenital pigmented nevi generally starts out small and light colored, but can grow and darken. When this occurs it is important to monitor these moles, because a growing, changing mole could be a sign of cancer.
Brown Birthmarks are treated with the Alex TriVantage® Laser. Like other lasers the Alex TriVantage® laser works by producing an intense burst of light that allows the selective destruction of the over- abundance of melanin without harming the surrounding tissue. Complete removal generally take anywhere from 1-3 treatments.
