Sculptra: Subtle and Gradual Volume
When you think of cosmetic injectables, the first thing that comes to mind is probably Botox. However, restoring the youthful appearance of the face goes far beyond wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers. Polylactic acid-based treatments, such as Sculptra Aesthetic, can help to stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production, thus restoring the volume in your face. To take a deep dive into this treatment and its benefits, we sat down with our Nurse Injector, Ashley!
Q. What is Sculptra and how does it differ from other fillers?
A. Sculptra is an injectable made of Poly-L-Lactic Acid. It’s safe, FDA-approved and is a synthetic form of lactic acid, which your body naturally produces.
Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra is a collagen stimulator and results will work gradually over time as the body naturally produces collagen in the treated area.
Q. Am I a good candidate?
A. Everyone is different. Just like with most of our treatments, we create individualized plans that address everyone’s unique needs. With Sculptra, we recommend you come in for a complimentary consultation.
Q. Is more than one treatment necessary?
A. Patients typically need three injection sessions over the course of a few months for a full treatment. Results can last up to two years for patients that complete their series of treatments.
Q. What can I expect with treatment?
A. Like most injectables, common side effects include: swelling, bruising, redness and tenderness at the injection site. We will be sure to send you home with all the post-treatment information you need!
Q. How long do results last?
A. Unlike the immediate results of dermal fillers like Vollure or Voluma, Sculptra works subtly and gradually over time for results that can last more than two years. As with all injectables, the longevity depends on the individual and the product used.
If you think Sculptra may be a great option for you, give us a call! We’d be happy to set you up with a complimentary consultation with one of our providers.
