What is Toenail Fungus?
Onychomycosis, or nail fungus, is a common ailment that affects around 10% of the U.S. population. Fungi can get trapped under toenails, causing infection. If left untreated, toenail fungus can be incredibly painful and lead to permanent toenail damage and malformation. This can interfere with the ability to wear shoes, walk, and other daily activities.
What are some symptoms of toenail fungus?
Common symptoms include:
- Thick and discolored (yellow or dark)=
- Damaged, brittle or crumbly
- Streaky or spotted
- Separated from the skin
- Distorted or painful
What does treatment process with the PinPointe Laser look like?
Nail fungus can be tricky to cure because the infection is under and inside the nail. Topical products like medicated nail polish, or home remedies like bleach or vinegar are not effective. Until recently, oral medications were the most successful treatment for nail infections, but these medications can have very harsh side effects.
The FDA approved PinPointe Laser offers a safe, effective solution for those who suffer from nail fungus. The PinPointe laser heats and kills the fungus under the nail and allows the nail to regrow normally. Treatments take 30-45 minutes and anesthesia is not required. It can take one to three treatments, spaced four to six months apart and expected results will be discussed upon consultation.
