Lisa Prentiss, PA
Lisa Prentiss, a physician assistant, has deep roots in Maine, where she grew up and began her healthcare career. After graduating from the University of New England and Duke University’s renowned Physician Assistant program, Lisa spent 16 years in cardiology at Maine Medical Center and later transitioned to adult inpatient medicine. In 2020, she joined the Cosmetic Enhancement Center, training extensively in lasers, skincare, and tissue tightening procedures. Lisa now specializes in advanced laser treatments and microneedling technologies, helping patients boost self-confidence. Additionally, she leads the center’s weight and wellness initiative, leveraging her 30 years of internal medicine expertise to provide personalized, concierge-level services focused on patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Lisa Prentiss, PA, grew up in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, and has been deeply rooted in the local community for much of her life. After earning her undergraduate degree in anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry from the University of New England (then known as Westbrook College), she went on to complete her graduate studies at Duke University, where she chose to attend due to the strength and legacy of its Physician Assistant program—the first of its kind in the country. Eager for a change in environment, she also welcomed the opportunity to explore life in the South during her time at Duke.
Lisa’s passion for medicine was sparked early on in her life by a challenging medical episode in her family. It was witnessing the incredible diagnostic process and expert evaluation during this time that inspired and cemented Lisa’s desire to pursue a career in healthcare.
After graduating from Duke, Lisa returned to Maine and embarked on a 16-year career in cardiology at Maine Medical Center. In 2011, she transitioned to adult inpatient medicine, a role she held until just recently when she decided to pursue a new chapter in her professional life. After a few serendipitous conversations with Dr. Atkins, whom Lisa had been seeing as a patient, Lisa began exploring opportunities outside the hospital. Her part-time work with the Cosmetic Enhancement Center started in 2020, and she’s been making an incredible impact here ever since.
Lisa trained extensively under Dr. Atkins and the expert team at CEC, gaining proficiency in lasers, skincare and tissue tightening procedures. She finds her work at CEC rewarding in a whole new way and loves being able to help patients improve their self-confidence with treatments that directly address problems or concerns they have that are holding them back from feeling their best.
Today, Lisa’s patients seek out her expertise in CEC’s advanced, state-of-the-art lasers and microneedling technologies. “My favorite therapies right now are radiofrequency treatments and microneedling with radiofrequency treatments such as Profound, VirtueRF, and Sofwave. I love the results they can offer our clients to rejuvenate the skin, improve elasticity, reduce wrinkles, and enhance the overall appearance of the skin.”
In addition to her work with cosmetic treatments, Lisa is playing a key role in leading Cosmetic Enhancement Center’s latest weight and wellness initiative. With 30 years of internal medicine experience, Lisa brings a deep understanding of patient safety and a personalized approach to wellness. Her focus is on providing a concierge-level service that involves a thorough review of each patient’s goals, ensuring that treatments are not only aligned with their aspirations but are also safe and closely monitored for optimal outcomes.
Lisa is passionate about weight loss and overall health, noting that, “After we reach the mid-forties, it is very difficult to lose weight and have your body respond to nutrition and exercise the way it does in your twenties and thirties. We want to help those who have difficulties with this succeed by using the latest technologies to gain optimum health and feel good about themselves.”
She works closely with patients to help them achieve measurable improvements in their health, and brings a comprehensive approach to these programs. For Lisa and the team, it’s not just watching the weight disappear, but monitoring their cholesterol panels, seeing positive improvements in joint health, and beyond. Her goal is to guide patients on their wellness journey with the same level of care and dedication she’s brought to her entire medical career.
