When you think of cosmetic treatments that can help you look and feel younger, what comes to mind? You may think of Botox, fillers, or facial treatments…but did you know sound waves can help with anti-aging? You heard that right – one of our favorite non-invasive skin tightening treatments is Ultherapy (which we showcased in our most recent Facebook Live Video – here!). Listen in, because we sat down with Shirley, M.E., to learn all about the treatment!
What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive, FDA approved a treatment that uses ultrasound to lift and tighten sagging skin on the face, neck, and décolletage (upper chest area). This treatment deposits ultrasound energy below the skin’s surface to encourage collagen production in the area.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
Almost anyone can be a good match for Ultherapy! It is a great treatment for those who are experiencing a lack of volume and sagging skin. While Ultherapy is not a replacement for surgery, it is a great alternative who those looking for a non-invasive, skin tightening procedure. This is also a great treatment option for younger patients who want to get ahead of aging.
How long does a treatment take?
The length of the treatment depends on the area being treated and your individual treatment plan. For example, a first-time patient having Ultherapy can expect to be here for about 40 minutes if they’re treating their jawline.
Is the treatment painful?
Comfort thresholds vary from patient to patient but there can be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered. Some patients report a feeling of warmth and tingling during the procedure. We do apply a topical numbing cream before treatment to minimize discomfort for patients.
What can I expect after treatment?
With Ultherapy, there is no downtime! You can resume your regular activities. Your skin may appear flushed at first and some patients may experience slight swelling, tingling, and tenderness to the touch. Like most treatments, bruising can also occur.
When will I see results and how long do they last?
Results will gradually begin to take place over the next 2-3 months as your body is naturally producing collagen back into the treated area and continue to improve through six months post-treatment. Results vary as everyone’s natural aging process is different but results typically last up to two years. We recommend a “maintenance” treatment at the 12-month mark to keep up with results.
As always, we offer complimentary consultations. Please call us today (207) 747-3560 to learn more about Ultherapy from our expert clinical staff!
