At the Cosmetic Enhancement Center, we offer treatments for unwanted, superficial veins that appear on the legs and face. Treatment types vary based on the severity of the veins and the desired treated area.
Spider Veins are smaller, superficial veins that appear red, blue or purple on the skin. Spider veins can be caused by prolonged standing, obesity, hormonal changes and genetic conditions, and occur when veins near the surface of the skin leak small amounts of blood. These leaks cause the blood to disperse into the skin tissue and form discolored patterns.
For spider veins on the legs, sclerotherapy has been successfully used since the 1930s, and is regarded as the gold standard in spider vein treatment. This procedure involves injections of an FDA approved sclerosing agent (Sotradecol) directly into the affected veins. This solution causes the vessels to seal shut and fade from the skin’s surface. The body then eliminates the treated veins through natural processes while blood is rerouted to healthy veins nearby.
VBeam® Laser treats facial veins using pulsed dyed laser (PDL) technology to deliver an intense beam of light that safely penetrates the skin and targets the selected area. The heat of the light destroys the targeted vessels and they are then absorbed by the body.
Varicose veins are enlarged, bulging veins that can cause symptoms such as pain, aching and swelling. They are caused by venous insufficiency, which occurs when blood circulating through the lower limbs does not properly return to the heart, and pools in the veins instead.
CEC primarily treats spider veins, which are considered cosmetic and are not covered by insurance. However, our physicians are trained to recognize the signs of underlying venous issues and will gladly refer you to the leg vein specialists at the Advanced Vein Center, our insurance-based sister practice.
