Earlobe Repair
Earlobe Repair is a minor surgical procedure specially designed to repair torn earlobes or reduce the size of stretched earlobes.
What is an Earlobe Repair?
What is an Earlobe Repair?
Elongated or torn earlobes can be caused by many factors:
- Heavy earrings worn for long periods of time
- Gauges that have stretched the earlobe
- Earrings getting caught or pulled, such as on clothing or bags
- Multiple piercings placed too close together or too close to the lower lobe
- Sudden trauma
- Age
How is an Earlobe Repair Performed?
This treatment is completed under local anesthesia in the comfort of our office. To begin the procedure, the earlobe is cleaned and then anesthetized using lidocaine injections. Once fully numbed, the damaged skin will be removed from the earlobe and the wound will be closed in layers, eliminating tension from the outer part of the incision to ensure optimal healing and future earlobe strength.
Does This Procedure Hurt?
Earlobe Repairs are done under local anesthesia. The numbing preparations allow for a painless procedure.
What is Recovery Like After an Earlobe Repair?
Patients will have sutures that will remain in place for 1-2 weeks after Earlobe Repair. Following removal of the sutures, there is typically minimal scarring where the procedure was performed.
Can I Pierce My Ears After an Earlobe Repair?
Yes. In approximately three months following the procedure, you can pierce or re-pierce your ear(s). Our office provides re-piercing services at no additional cost; this is automatically included as part of the procedure for anyone that wishes to enjoy this added benefit. Patients can re-pierce using their own stud earring.
