What is Botox?

Botox, a form of botulinum toxin type A (onabotulinumtoxinA), is a prescription medicine that helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Common areas treated include frown lines, crow’s feet, and the “11” lines between the eyebrows. This non-surgical option is favored by patients seeking a quick, effective solution to soften signs of aging with minimal downtime.

To get the results you want from this popular anti-aging treatment, it is important to choose a Botox provider who is highly experienced. At the Cosmetic Enhancement Center of New England, we are the #1 provider of Botox Cosmetic in Maine! Our providers have been injecting Botox for many years and have the skill and experience to deliver natural-looking results that last.

How Does Botox Work?

Lines and wrinkles are caused by a number of factors, including repetitive muscle contractions. When Botox is injected into the facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles, it temporarily reduces these contractions, so lines and wrinkles are diminished, and skin has a smoother Trusetd Source Checkbox Trusted Source Botulinum toxin therapy: FAQs American Academy of Dermatology Association Go to Source appearance.

Am I A Good Candidate for Botox?

The use of Botox is a popular option for reducing facial wrinkles, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles. Ideal candidates are generally in good health and not currently pregnant or breastfeeding. However, individuals with certain medical conditions, such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or those taking blood thinners, should discuss potential risks with their healthcare provider before using botulinum toxin products. During your consultation, we’ll review your health history and aesthetic goals to determine if Botox is right for you.

What to Expect During Botox Treatment

Many first-time patients are curious about what to expect during a Botox treatment. The injections feel like a slight pinch, and most patients find the procedure quick and well-tolerated without a topical anesthetic. However, if you have concerns about discomfort, a numbing cream can be applied upon request. Cosmetic Botox treatments take less than 15 minutes and approximately 30 minutes for hyperhidrosis, making it convenient for those with busy schedules.

When Will I See the Results After Botox Treatment?

After the Botox treatment, it usually takes 7 to 14 days for the formula to take effect and the results to become visible. If you are receiving Botox for hyperhidrosis, it may take a few weeks to notice the full effects. In any case, the results from cosmetic Botox injections typically last about three to four months and up to nine months when treating hyperhidrosis.
